Blending roguelike and dungeon-crawler elements, it offers a challenging yet accessible gameplay experience, supported by its visually stunning design. Hades has been honored with multiple awards, including Game of the Year, Action Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design/Direction, and Outstanding Achievement for an Independent Game nominations.
Hades has managed to stand out among the competition from major players like Sony this year. Other notable winners include Ghost of Tsushima (receiving three awards), Final Fantasy VII Remake, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and The Last of Us Part II. In the VR category, Half-Life: Alyx emerged as the expected champion. Additionally, the popular indie game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was recognized as the Online Game of the Year at DICE 2021.
Nevertheless, the most successful game of the year remains Hades. Its four awards are expected to further boost its popularity, especially given the overwhelmingly positive feedback from both players and critics.
