Nintendo recently finished their special Direct for the upcoming 2D side-scrolling platform adventure, Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The game stars the famous plumber and his friends as they try to rescue the Flower Kingdom's residents from the evil Bowser. In addition to new features like badges, power-ups, characters, and different play modes (solo, local multiplayer, or online), the company surprised fans with a special announcement at the end of the presentation.
This announcement confirmed rumors that had been circulating the day before. Indeed, there will be a unique red OLED Nintendo Switch model (Mario edition). This special edition includes a red dock with details like a small Mario silhouette etched into a corner and coins embossed on the back of the charging base. While the JoyCons themselves do not have any extra details, they will surely be a valuable addition to the collection of Mario fans who also own the Nintendo DSi XL released for the plumber's 25th anniversary.
The Mario edition Nintendo Switch OLED red model is scheduled to be released on October 6th. The retail price has not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to be around 360 euros, similar to the pricing of other special edition consoles like Splatoon 3, Pokémon Scarlet, The Legend of Zelda, and Violet.
