Twitter has recently announced plans to introduce a TikTok-like video stream for its explore page, while still keeping the "For you" tag to personalize the content you see. This feature will be available on both Android and iOS versions of the app.
In an interview, a Twitter representative shared that they will be trying out a customized explore page to offer more personalized content, keep you informed about your interests, and help you discover new hobbies. Twitter views this as an opportunity to make current content more engaging.
Twitter is among several social networks that have followed TikTok's success. TikTok, known for sharing short video clips, has surpassed a billion active monthly users, achieving this milestone rapidly.
Due to the success of TikTok's video-sharing model, other social media platforms and video-sharing services have started to adopt similar approaches. Instagram's Reels, YouTube's Shorts, and Snapchat's Spotlight have all achieved some level of success. Even entertainment services like Spotify, Netflix, and Reddit have also joined in.
Twitter's new CEO, Parag Agrawal, has been active in introducing new products and features like Twitter Blue, Tip Jar, and Spaces, with Spaces being particularly popular and a primary focus for Twitter at the moment. While Twitter may be testing a new TikTok-style design for its explore page, it is uncertain if it will be fully implemented considering past unsuccessful features like Fleets.
