Finally, Twitter has introduced a new feature that allows users to search for specific direct messages by using keywords in the search bar, which was not possible in earlier versions of the app. Previously, users could only search for other users and groups. This search bar feature, while added some time ago, was fully functional in the latest update.
Now You Have 3 Options
Following the recent update, the Twitter DM search bar now offers 3 search modes: People, Groups, and Messages. By selecting Messages, users can search for specific messages across all chats using specific keywords. The search function is now more versatile compared to its initial release in May 2021. Unfortunately, this feature was available to iOS users in 2019 long before it reached Android users. Both apps are now on par.
Another Cool Feature!
For those who were unimpressed by the updated search feature, there is a more entertaining feature on the way. Unfortunately, this feature will first be available to iOS users.
According to the latest Twitter update, iOS users can now create GIF animations using the app camera. To create and share a GIF, users need to:
Tap the “New Tweet” icon;
Tap the photo icon and the camera icon to open the in-app camera mode;
Select the GIF mode;
Tap and hold the capture button to start recording a GIF;
Share your new GIF with everyone or selected contacts.
Unfortunately, there is no option to share GIFs with users on other social media platforms. Users can only share a link to the GIF for others to view on Twitter. There is also no option to save a GIF file on a phone or PC yet.
Drip Updates
Twitter developers seem to be following a strategy of introducing smaller updates frequently rather than unveiling significant updates all at once. What are your thoughts on this approach and how do you feel about the new features? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below and spread the word on Twitter.
